People First Supports Credit Union Charity – ILCU Foundation

People First Credit Union generously donated €10,000 to the ILCU Foundation as part of their international social responsibility commitment to support the development of credit unions’ in developing and low-income countries. Kiernan Brosnan Chairman of People First note, “we are delighted to support the ILCU Foundation. Our support will allow the Foundation to build the capacity of credit union staff and volunteers to develop their respective credit union movements. We know the value of the credit union in our communities and it’s good to be able to help others and give them the opportunity to be able to save and borrow money to reducing poverty, regardless of the continent or county. The credit union ethos is the same the world over- it’s not for profit and people helping people.”

Alan Moore, CEO of the ILCU Foundation, said “with the support of People First Credit Union, and credit unions across the island of Ireland, the ILCU Foundation has been able to provide savings and loan facilities for poor people who live in some of the world’s poorest countries. Credit-union membership has a positive impact on the poor and marginalized in society; it improves their quality of life, provides access to education and helps them move from poverty to prosperity. This is the exact same model that the Irish credit union movement has been using throughout Ireland, for over 50 years.  On behalf of the ILCU Foundation I would like to take this opportunity to thank People First Credit Union and their members for their support.”
